The glue that just won't dissolve...

I bought a lovely plastic jug and beaker set yesterday from the usually wonderful Dunelm Mill. I was so pleased with it BUT the 4.99 sticker on the jug seemed to have been glued on with industrial strength No More Nails or some such. It can't be dishwashered so I have tried:

  1. Neat washing up liquid
  2. bicarb and lemon juice
  3. boiling water
  4. vinegar.
  5. A good soak in combos of the above with v hot water.
  6. Flora low fat frying spray.

I don't want to scratch too hard as it has nice pictures of fruit on it that might come off if scrubbed. The glue seemed to have melted and then redistributed itself around the rim of the jug.

I'm starting to take this personally. Jug- you are my nemesis!

All words of wisdom gratefully received.

you need to rub with white spirit or lighter fluid

tis very annoying when they use such sticky labels but the above 2 work a treat

We had tape residue on our washing machine (gluey) and white spirit worked a treat - came clean off!

brockleybelle · 08/11/2010 12:42

i imagine it will rinse off well.

Try baby oil.
