Getting out rust

DH has managed to get rust on one of his favourite work shirts. Before it goes in the bin, is there anything anyone can recommend to get it out?

I managed to get a small rust mark out with lemon juice and sunshine - you basically squeeze out a lemon over the stain with a wad of kitchen roll behind it to keep it damp and lemony for longer, then leave it out in strong sunshine till its dried. Not sure where you'll find any sunshine this time of year though!
