I've just realised something about bean bags that probably everyone else already knew..

..they go flat and have to be refilled.

I didn't realise this. I thought the dc's bean bag might have gone flat but put it down to my imagination.

But today I was in the shop where we got it and there were some for sale exactly the same and they weren't flat. And nearby they were selling top up bags of beany filling. Lightbulb moment followedBlush

Ooh I always use the bath but will def try the bag for life method - sounds like it will work

My top tip for refilling is to use a metal sieve or similar as a scoop, you don't get static like you do with plastic and the beads behave themselves. I bought a big bag of them very cheaply from Amazon.

If you're making a beanbag, then do have it on two layers of covering IYSWIM - means that any marks on the outer cover can be washed, and the beans don't go anywhere.

My friend got a great result using waterproof mattress protectors (the cheap ones) and sewing them together inside out as the inner bag.

Great tips.

HRN - that was funny!

I was worried about my son flopping on the fatboy and banging his head on the floor underneath... ah-hah! so it's not meant to be that flat! I will order some beads on amazon - on the fatboy site they sell 100 litres for 40 quid ... or on amazon for 20 quid - but won't that be too much? How much do you think I should buy to top it up?

So just if someone needs to know, I ordered the 113 litre bag from Amazon and it wasn't too much at all. My beanbag is about 1m50 by 1m20 (5 foot by 4 foot in old money) Hmm and it was only just enough to top it up really. "I love it mum it's all puffy now" Grin
