Is frozen fruit any good for just eating?

Finding the fresh strawbs and blackberries and blueberries getting more expensive and worse quality now winter's coming. Often see the frozen fruit tubs in supermarkets but are they any good to just thaw and eat or are they really just for crumbles etc? I'm trying to do a big online shop once a week to avoid having to pick up things during the week as I always, always buy more than I intended, but need to buy fresh fruit at least twice a week as DD goes through loads.

I buy them and eat them with youghurt or cereal or porridge as do my kids. Not as nice as fresh but fine and cheaper of course.

strawberries will go to mush so really just for pies, crumbles, smoothies etc. Raspberries are slightly better.

I eat frozen raspberries and grapes whilst they are still frozen. They're lovely!

I buy the cheap bags of forest fruits for about £1.40 from tesco. I either put them in crumble, make compote or just defrost and serve with greek yoghurt or ice cream. I don't find them mushy.

Mmm, think I will buy a couple of bags and see what they're like. Assuming they've still got all the vitamins etc like frozen veg does?

I put them in little pots of jellies, then can go in lunch boxes. My DSs will eat them raw Confused , and I think they were nice when they were teething.

ooh, interesting idea about serving with yoghurt - I'd always assumed those products were only for baking crumbles and pies, will give the ideas here a go.

ds eats frozen peas straight out of the bag. Which is odd. But seems to make him happy.

I freeze grapes in summer because they are refreshing. Not sure if the sorts of fruits you buy frozen would be nice to eat frozen though.

I think they do keep their vitamins so def worth trying.

Another one who eats frozen blueberries and raspberries still frozen. And DD aged 2 eats them like sweets :o

Though I've found they taste better if you freeze fresh berries (when bought at cheap point of season) than buy the pre-frozen ones. Have no idea why. Am a slattern and just eat a few at a time out of the packet!
