Healthy flapjacks

Hi there. I would like to substitute my DC's daily cereal bar with something healthier. I am after a flapjack recipe that contains minimal fat and sugar (preferably no sugar at all actually, I am hoping that the honey and dried fruits would sweeten it enough) and no syrups on any kind. Happy to use rolled oats, peanut butter, seeds, nuts and dried fruits. Any recipes would be gratefully received!

I use golden syrup (sometimes add dried fruit) and fruit juice instead of fat. Slightly different taste but still delicious. Add seeds etc., as you like. EnjoySmile
Roughly, 2 tbsp syrup, 2 tbsp(ish) juice boil together then 6 oz oats. Honey works well but again is a different taste.

I use a combination of this walnut oil, black treacle and honey (with egg, bit of flour, fruit, nuts and oats).

Possibly an acquired taste oil is full of omega 3's and other goodies apparently.

About 20 mins should see golden on top and coming away from sides of a greased tin. Temperature 175-200C.

Homemade, if I use honey instead of syrup, would it also be 2 tbsp? Once cooked, how long do they last in a tin? Thanks!

Yes, 2 tbsp, keep the proportions the same. So halve or double everything. They've never been around longer than a few days. Flapjack is supposed to go lovely and gooey after a few days. I tend to freeze a few too, they can be eaten straight out of the freezer (sometimes), tasty if defrosted quickly in the microwave.
