Bread in freezer

Sorry - this is really boring!

I am always running out of fresh bread and I used to keep a standby loaf in the freezer for toast.

My family are growing and my freezer is always stuffed to breaking point. Find the bread gets squashed into bizarre shapes. When I try to prise off individual slices they usually snap because of this.

Does anyone have the same problem? Is there some kind of gizmo designed for containing bread in a freezer?

Split it and bag and freeze in packs of two slices? I don't do this now as we go through a loaf in a matter of minutes, so always defrost the whole thing, but if you tend to defrost slice by slice, it might be easier.

Could you slice it then lay it down flat in a tupperware box?

get some breadmixes and quickly bake one when you need it? just as quick as defrosting I would guess?

Put it in the freezer late at night after everyone else has gone to sleep. Once it is frozen, it won't get squashed. Wink

Decant into plastic boxes. Maybe three boxes for one loaf.

Defrosting takes about a minute, mousymouse!
