Worst household task?

What's your worst household task? For me, it's hoovering, I just can't get on with it.

Many people claim ironing is the worst. And what's the worst item to iron? You guessed it, men's shirts. They are a bit of nightmare.

What's your worst task?

putting clothes away.

I don't mind the washing, drying, folding, ironing even - just can't stand putting them all away again

Cleaning the bathroom. Also hoovering. Bins. Changing the bed. Dusting.

god I really hate housework dont i?

(ironing is great though)

The thing that makes dusting a pain is lifting all the ornaments and photos. Minimalism is the way forward - throw out the rubbish.

I have to lift the ornaments? Think the wood is a different shade underneath by now...

freshtime · 22/10/2010 17:12

LOL - good point ethel, if you never lift the ornaments they're probably stuck fast by now - which means the job will be much easier and there'll be no breakages. I knew I was doing it wrong all these years - thanks for the tip.

Ironing and washing the bathroom floor.

I quite like dusting.

marriednotdead · 22/10/2010 17:32

Cleaning the bloody cooker; it's ancient. You can never get the knobs clean without scrubbing the markers off so it's grubby oven dial or guess the temperature Hmm

Have just been told (by Housing Assoc) that we will be getting a new kitchen before Christmas (yippee) so will get a cooker that requires far less effort to make shiny. And it will NOT be white.

stofstg · 22/10/2010 18:58

tvaerialmagpiebin · 23/10/2010 20:48

cleaning the windows. Did it yesterday. Hate it, they never look really clean, always smeary. Can't use newspaper any more either, bah humbug new fangled ink.

and cutting the grass (not strictly household more gardenhold). Tedious, messy and the feckin grass grows as soon as the mower is back in the shed.

I dont mind cleaning. Honestly. Even the toilets and bathrooms. Only takes a few minutes a day!

BUT...

I Loathe ironing! Until the DC started school and I was forced (by guilt! LOL) to iron, DH did all the ironing. Now I do. Cos a good mother irons, innit?

TIDYING UP AFTER THE KIDS have ransacked the entire place. My oasis of a bedroom ends up with a superhero toy under my pillow, a tipped up water cup on my sheets, all of my shoes out of the closet (and separated into solos, dotted about the house). I could go on, but I've lost the will to live...
