Made to measure curtains?

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy made to measure curtains? Our house is old and each room has windows of slightly different size, so "ready made curtains" don't work for us. Our son's room is painted a pale but sunny yellow with white trim. I'm making him a Noah's Ark quilt and hope to put some Noah's Ark stencilling around the room as a border (color not decided yet). I've looked at Debenhams and M&S curtains on line and nothing really goes well with yellow or looks particularly cute for a child's room, quite frankly.

What else is out there please? He's 9 months old and we want to get black-out backed curtains in his room ASAP, and him in his room ASAP. He's waking up all night long and then fancying a breastfeed. I'm absolutely shattered.

Don't know where in Scotland you are, but I was collecting my sewing (shortened trousers) from a place in Glasgow city centre today, and I noticed that they did made-to-measure curtains. I presume you buy the material and they sew them for you.

I worked in the made-to-measure-curtain dept in BHS as a saturday job, oh, 25-ish years ago, and I remember even then being astounded at how much dearer than off-the-shelf curtains they were.

If you're in Glasgow, let me know and I'll dig out the name of the alteration service I used.

Dunelm make made to measure curtains. If you have one near you they're worth a try.

Could you make another noahs ark quilt then buy a roman blind kit and make a blind for him?

Thin but padded eiderdowns make wonderful roman blinds

My ceilings downstairs are too high for the standard 90" drop most places sell. I ordered my dunelm mill fabric sample online and then ordered my curtains online as well, with cushion covers to match. The total was £190 which was really reasonable as this was only for a playroom as well. I have paid much more for made to measure for other rooms. But you dont mind when its your sitting room or somewhere. Google kids curtain fabrics as there are a few websites also doing made to measure.

What about navy gingham lined with blackout lining? I have these for my DS and have had them since he was an infant. He's 6 now and they still look great.

Kids Fabrics offer a made to measure service.

I've bought fabric from them several times (make my own curtains, too tight to have them made!) - excellent customer service and a great range of children's fabrics Smile

John Lewis do a great made to measure service. Not cheap but the quality of the curtains is good. I've had several made by them and have always been happy with the result.

John Lewis do made to measure curtains and blackout blinds in children's fabrics. Do you have one near you? I got our local curtain man to do DD's windows: he did a plain burgundy blackout blind (made to meaure) and he did thick curtains from Harlequin:

The Harlequin fabric is cream with yellow and red accents (plus other bold colours).

I second Kids Fabrics. I had curtains made for my son's room (with blackout lining and also interlining). The quality is fantastic and it was half the price of other places for the same fabric and making up.
