UPVC windows - stain on the outside

AMumInScotland · 16/10/2010 08:45

I've got some odd orange/brown marks on the outside of the UPVC window - possibly from spider-poo (?) It seems quite smooth and soapy water hasn't improved it. Any suggestions what's best to try on it?

TIA

bleach?

Thanks, I'll give it a go!

Magic Erasers are brilliant at removing marks off UPVC.

I know someone who bleached her upvc window frames. They turned yellow in the sun so i wouldn't risk it. You can buy special cleaner for them.

Ah, maybe I'll not go straight for that after all then...

Are magic erasers just in the supermarket, or would I have to look somewhere special? Ditto special UPVC cleaner?

Poundshop and home bargains are the cheapest places to get magic erasers from. I smiled at the window fitters and got some of the specialist cleaner from them but find the Erasers work just as well.

Thanks - I'll take a look

Sandtex do a UPVC cleaner which works very well. The staining you describe sounds like rust probably from a screw head etc. If you do find a rusty screw head, cover it with a screw cap
