venetian blinds?

Want to put some blinds in my front bay window. Have fancied some wooden venetian blinds, but not sure....what do people think of them these days? Are they naff or not?

Thanks

we've just had our downstairs decorated and the designer (who's main role was to mediate between my husband and I) recommended some. Eventually, after John lewis struggled to send me samples, i bought them from hillary's blinds (had reservations about them as they send so much junk mail but they are great). if you have a bay window you will need several, 1 for each flat bit, or if its only slightly bay and you don't mind losing it you can have larger one all way across. ours are 3.5 cms slats which i'm pleased with and is apparently a popular choice. they are cream and match window paint - was planning to get wooden but designer recommended cream - good as its nice and light. cheap wood ones bend apparently. are you keeping curtains too? think they might look a bit functional in some rooms eg lounge

I have cheap wood ones, painted cream and they are lovely and no signs of bending after 5 years. The only con is that they are a pain to clean.

I have a wooden blind from Next. I give the slats a wipe every couple of weeks and this seems to keep them dust free. They haven't bent and are a few years old. I don't have curtains as I wouldn't use them, I just pull the blind down in the evening.

We have not long put some in the living room
Ikea wooden, as they had the drop we needed.
I do tend to use them like the old roman blind in that we raise them during the day ( well sometimes)
I am now considering them for my bay window

Thank you all for your comments. Only got a sort of rectangular bay window so I'll need three blinds. I'll have to keep my eye out for some nice blinds, got to paint the room first, so no point rushing it. Thanks.
