yes, because we are all in this together. it is because of MN that i am in this mess and you have all got to help me out of it. if i go down, I'm taking you all with me. Grin

so, my mum is arriving at around 6pm tomorrow evening and my house is embarrassing. she is babysitting so she will be upstairs and she will pry, so i can't jsut do downstairs. the house has things all over it that should be in another room, toys on teh stairs, washing in teh living room, coats in teh kitchen. it also needs a bloody good clean. help!! where do i start?

Bin Bags and a shed!

Take all the light bulbs away - she'll never know.

What about the Fly lady plan for decluttering? 3 boxes one marked put away, one give away and one throw away?

And I guess, once those things are out of the way - you can start the cleaning? Set your timer and give yourself a set time in each room and do as much as you can?

Is that do-able in the time you have?

But, really I'm rubbish at housework - but that's what I'd attempt at least.

it's a plan but i am thinking even if i do get everything boxed i wont have time to get them to the charity shop or dump. i suppose i could put them in the roofspace overnight.

it just all looks soooo much, i have no idea where to start. should i start upstairs and work my way down?

Another vote for Crisis Cleaning. It's amazing what you can get done in three lots of 15 minutes.

Stillcounting · 13/10/2010 08:39

Good luck booooooyhooo!!!

Hope it goes OK!!

booooooooooyhoo · 13/10/2010 09:47

ah, well, not so great start, we slept in and ds2 was sick all over his cot and himnself last night so that has all been stripped and he has to go in the bath so bit of a delay but once he's bathed I'm getting stuck in.

Oh no booooooyhooo... hope your ds2 is feeling better today ....at least you have the excuse that sick dc take priority over Flying every time!!!

well, i got some stuff done. not s much as i would have liked and thankfully, she didn't comment like she usually does. although she did say as she was leaving, "I'll get dad to come in and take that fridge and I'll give it a good clean and start using it". i have a new fridge and my old one is just sitting in teh kitchen. although i have to say, i would clean out a fridge anyway before using it so i can't say for sure if she was having a dig or not.
