George sort of dry burning smell.

After reading a few threads about Henry/Hetty this evening was motivated to dig out George Hoover which has been lying unused for more than a year due to me not being able to get his shiny black 'hat' fixed on properly so pulling him about by the nose instead of lifting, resulting in tubes coming apart at the front. However now got him sorted and polished up, bag changed etc Smile

However turned him on and although the great suction that I have missed when using a cheapish replacement is still there, there's a sort of burning smell. Is this to be expected - is the motor maybe dusty after that long and it'll wear off? Don't want to risk using him if it sounds like a major electrical fault type thing.

I reckon it is probably just dust getting hot.

Oh I hope you're right! Took me ages to sort him out and was so pleased when I figured out how to fix his helmet on!! Had the blimmen thing about 4 years and that's the first time I've managed!
