I am hiring a carpet cleaner tomorrow (see threads passim on errant tom cat). How long will it be before I can move all the furniture back into place?

As long as you haven't overwetted while cleaning, about 6 hours. What I always do, is put heating on if it's cold, and open the windows to let the moisture out. I know it's more expensive, but the carpets dry more quickly.

By the way, as you clean, the smell of cat wee will horrendous. I found this when cleaning a carpet after house training a puppy, and we'd been red-hot on mopping up after him, but still the smell was a shocker.

Thanks for the warning - the house is currently most unsavoury. It seems like the cleaning has released the urine stench, although it is fading. slowly.
