Online supermarket shop - good bad or indifferent?

Have always resisted so far as I think I would spend more (oh yes, I believe I am such a shrewd shopper, avoiding the traps, having no brand loyalty, buying yellow label stuff, stocking up on my favourites when they're on offer and resisting them when at full price, making full use of BOGOFs etc) but am getting desperately short of time to go shopping! What has been your experience?

I started using online shopping when pregnant and unable to really carry much that was bulky or heavy anymore. We have a small Tesco or a reasonable-sized but oh so overcrowded-in-the-aisles Morrisons locally. Or several big Tesco shops about 30 minutes drive away.

So anyway, we get a big shop once a month with everything bulky like paper towel, loo roll, etc and all heavy items like dried beans, pasta, tins of food, cat food, and so on. I get about a week's worth of fruit, veg, dairy, and fresh things, but try to get most of our fresh vegetables, eggs, cheese and fish from the local farmers' market fortnightly.

I've only ever tried Tesco online, and so far so good. They did some weird substitution once, and gave us the wrong item once, and one time we were given two rolls of kitchen bin liners that we had not bought (didn't pay for them at least)... but for the most part, it is all good and they always show up at the beginning of the time booked. If I book 3-5, they tend to show up at 3 or 3:15 not 4:55 which is good when you have a baby who likes to nap at certain times.

Ocado definitely.

I used to get free bottles of wine with deliveries, not sure if you do now.
At least you have an idea when you place your order if something is not in stock.

I've tried all the other stores numerous times taking advantage of offers etc.
When orders arrived without essential nappies, wipes, bread etc. it drove me insane.

I am also quite happy to order the meat and veg from Ocado which I would never do with the others.
Everything has a stated shelf life at the time of ordering too which helps.
