Fridge-freezers - reconditioned or new?

DH and I are moving to our first house this weekend. Money is okay but we do need to be careful, especially as DC1 due in about six weeks and I'll only get MA.
So, do we pay £150 for a reconditioned Hotpoint (efficiency rating A) which looks fairly new, to my untrained eye, but has only a 3 month guarantee. It's from a shop which two separate people have recommended to me.
Or do we pay £379 for a brand new one from John Lewis, with a 3 year guarantee?
Anyone had any experience of buying reconditioned goods?
Thanks!

I got my freezer 2nd hand 9 years ago and its still going strong. Its been through 2 house moves. For a freezer I would say you'll be fine with a reconditioned one, it doesnt get the same abuse a fridge does.
