WWYD with these chairs?

MIL works in a charity shop and they had some chairs given to them, but they didn't have the room to share them. As DH had refurbished every bit of furniture in our place they asked if we'd take them rather than having to throw them away. Upon bringing them home we've realised we really don't have room for them.

We don't want to throw them, as they are good quality. And, having started stripping the awful varnish off of them, we think they could be made to look amazing. SO we want to do them up and hopefully sell them on, rather than leave them as they are and have them end up at a tip sooner rather than later.

But we aren't sure what people would actually want. They are kind of cute, so I think they'd look great as chairs in a nursery/kids room. Not sure if many people look for chairs for that though. What do you think? And do you think we should choose gender neutral colours? Or paint pictures on them?

depends what wood they are made from..

I would look on ebay for refurbished furniture and see what's selling well. Someone bought a piece of furniture from us on ebay, they run a business doing refurbishment and make things look really nice, and they make a very good profit out of it.

market research is your best bet

Kaloki - how many/what size? I'd happily take them off your hands!

Am I right in thinking you;re Brighton way? In which case I'd go to a couple of the more cute shops in the lanes and see if they want them/ask what they're after.

I went to an exhibition a few years ago that had little painted chairs. One of them had pages from Alice in Wonderland all over it (amazing), on of them had stencils, one had big bold prints, all looked superb. Largely depends on the kind of chair I thik.
