It was cooked friday afternoon, and stored in the fridge straight away. Is it still ok to eat it tomorrow, when it will be 4 days old?

Yeah sure - if you want to spend all day tomorrow on the toilet!

I wouldn't eat anything after 24 hours, 36 hours at a push.

It will be fine

dexter73 · 27/09/2010 20:23

Course it will be fine! If you blast it in the microwave it will kill anything in it.

TheCrackFox · 27/09/2010 20:24

It will be fine. Do you really think all those ready meals in the Supermarket were cooked the same day?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/09/2010 20:26

as long as it went into the fridge as soon as it cooled down it will be absolutely fine.

missingmevino · 27/09/2010 20:26

I'd eat it

Kingsroadie · 27/09/2010 20:28

I would eat it - but then I have been known to scrape mould off things (boarding school did this to me - big vats of jam which would grown mould on the top and we scraped it off)Grin

I would obviously make sure it was thoroughly blasted in the microwave though - put the usual time on and add a minute!

frenchfancy · 27/09/2010 20:28

Most cooked food will keep for a week if stored in the fridge.

I would recomend putting it in a pan and bringing it up to heat slowly rather than putting it in the microwave, that way you make sure it is hot all the way through. It will take you ten minute to cook the pasta anyway.

Ingles2 · 27/09/2010 20:30

absolutely I'd eat it, 4 days is nothing... don't microwave it though, boil on the hob just to make sure.

Irishchic · 27/09/2010 20:33

Thanks all, am gonna go for it then!

OP posts:
silverfrog · 27/09/2010 20:34

yes, I most certainly would (and frequently do)

I would also happily feed it to my dds (and frequently do)

do make sure it is heated through properly, but other than that, not much that can go wrong (as long as your fridge is in work9ng order!)

24 hours?! duncandisorderly - you must throw an awful lot of perfectly good food away.

SplashSplash · 27/09/2010 20:35

DON'T DO IT!!

I did this with 3 day old bolognese sauce (boiled thoroughly on the hob too!) and got horrendous food poisoning 6 hours later.

SplashSplash · 27/09/2010 20:37

Nikita I was too late, sorry.

Will keep fingers crossed for you.

I have not cooked bolognese since Grin and this episode was 5 months ago.

Speckledeggy · 27/09/2010 20:57

I'd eat it.

Like Kingsroadie I often used to scrape the mould off things at uni. Needs must and all that! Still here to tell the tale...

peachybums · 27/09/2010 21:03

I do it all the time! Sometimes push it to 5 days. Id eat it, should be ok

ppeatfruit · 28/09/2010 08:46

Not only would it be edible it would taste better ! IMO

DurhamDurham · 28/09/2010 08:55

I could not eat it...would prob let dh eat it as he has an iron constitution!

nannyl · 28/09/2010 17:06

id heat it so it was very very very hot, then eat it without worrying!

have done so many times and never suffered as a result (so lomg as when cold it looked ad smelt ok etc)
