Help! Heating element gone in dishwasher!

Hi
The heating element has gone kaput in my dishwasher. I've searched the Net for spares and I found an element at a cost of £93 sterling. Now, to get somebody in to replace this element would probably cost ?100 (I live in Ireland).

However, I don't know if this will be worth the money because if it fails again there will be further costs! Am I better off to buy a new dishwasher? Just wondering if any of you have had this experience.

The reason I'm so hesitant is because my work colleague's fridge wasn't working, so she called in a repairman at a cost of ?100 - only for the fridge to break down again. So she bought a new fridge.
