How do I dry out wee'd on school shoes?

Help please. DS1 has had a huge accident which went down to his shoes.

How on earth do I get them dry / not smelly by tomorrow morning?

And please don't say put them in the washing machine because that's just died and is now incontinent too!

Scrub them with soapy water but don't allow them to get too wet through.

Stuff them with newspaper overnight (maybe stick the heating on for a short while?)

Could also write a note to the teacher asking if he could wear different footwear for one day if they don't dry out.

Rinse them thoroughly under the tap; then stuff them with kitchen towel and put them on a turned-on radiator or heated airer.

try surgical spirit? should get rid of the urine without soaking the shoe too much. Depends on the amount of wee involved I guess.

They are pretty soaked. I've sprinkled them with bicarb as I knew that got rid of the smell (my other problem is I have very little sense of smell so have to ask others what they smell like!).

I'll stuff them with paper and kitchen roll together and put them in the airing cupboard.

I think he might have to wear his trainers tomorrow. At least his teacher knows about it so I'm sure she'll be ok about it!

Thanks all.

Thanks Flora, will the surgical spirit act as a disinfectant?
