Dehumidifiers

I think we need one as every window in the house is running with condensation this morning. That will be why there was black mould on every window when we moved in then.
So, which one?
I have googled and read that one can do a whole house if positioned well but not clear on what sort of size and would the Argos value one here be ok?

haven't got that argos one but doubt it would do whole house. We have a dehumidifier in the bathroom as gets steamy and mouldy. Have to say it's great but we have to have it on 'ecomony' mode all the time, and wack it up to max during showers. Remember to turn it off when you have window/doors open or it defeats the point. Have you tried other measures first? eg cleaning to mould regularly and opening windows every day? I think most windows have condensation to them - we have a vairety of different types of windwos in our house (old property) and each one has condensation. On one window we have to leave a little dishcloth to mop up the puddle on the windowsill and replace regularly.

If you get one dehumidifier for the whole house you'd probably need an industrial sized one on max all the time - could be expensive to run.

Is there a hire company near you? You might eb able to hire a dehumidifier for a few weeks cheaply to see if it works well in your house and if it's worth shelling out for one. That's what we did. Generally the cheapest ones on sale in stores arn't worth it - I'd expect one that made a difference to cost approx £120 - £180.

Thanks angels. We open the windows regularly but if this is a foretaste of what the winter will bring then I don't think I will want all of the windows open in the freezing weather.
I am a bit worried about this house since as I said there was black mould when we arrived.
I am going to investigate more.
