Sweaty Shoes

My hall and stairs stinks of sweaty shoes. All the families footwear is kept on a rack by the back door and it stinks. The kids sandals and trainers especially so, to the point where you open the back door and it hits you.

Sooo...is there something I can spray/treat them with to get rid of the pong. I could really do with something I can make up from the cupboard as I am carless and far from shops today.

Thanks

bicarbonate of soda sprinkled in the shoes will absorb the smell. best to leave overnight if you can.

Thanks, I'll give it a go. I should have thought about bicarb really, bit of a wonder powder isn't it?!?

Not quite what you're after, but a tip for avoiding sweaty shoes in the first place is to put half a tumble drier sheet in each shoe when you're wearing them. Particularly good for shoes that you wear without socks.

Thank you, that's a good idea for my pumps. TBH the main culprit is my daughter who has Timberland sandals with a foamy base, they seem to absorb all the sweat, but can't be washed. I thought it was teenagers who had smelly feet, but my 3 are 3,5 and 6 and positively reek!
