Can anyone recommend a sofa bed that is actually comfy to sleep on?

My experience of sofa beds is usually a rather uncomfortable night's sleep while wondering if the host would be totally offended if I gave up and just slept on the floor instead (have never quite had the nerve to do this!) We now need to buy something which will be both a day sofa in our living room (so would like to avoid the futon-style) but will also be suitable for guests including our ILs who can sometimes stay for a week at a time.

Any recommendations gratefully received.

I have one of these which, with the thickest mattress, is very comfortable as a bed - but it may not be sufficiently sofa-esque for your living room.

ours is from sofa sofa and it is a great sofa (perhaps a tiny bit harder than a regular sofa but still lovely) and my guests have all said that it's very comfy to sleep on. I don't think they are just being polite - one had previously mentioned that the mattress on our old guest bed was a bit past it! - and it seemed nice to me when I tested it.

It's a bit smaller than a proper bed, of course.

sorry meant to add - think ours is the Coniston, though I think that the basic bed-frame and mattress are the same in all of them.

I've got a nice one (will try and remember the name) which we bought with a memory foam mattress so the constant folding wouldn't affect it too much. We also bought a thick mattress enhancer to make it more comfortable and we happily slept on it every night for a month waiting to move into our new house.

It's worth paying for one with a proper mechanism (though they weigh a ton if you want to move it). Go to a department store and make them pull out the be so you can try it.

Stuff in boxes at the moment, but will try and remember the make.

Shoul add, you will need to store the enhancer separately to the sofa or you won't be able to close it!

I think mine was from Sofa Sofa too. Proper mechanism and veryheavy. The mattress itself is bit crappy - but I got a thick mattress topper from Ikea and it doubles it up and makes it v comfy.
