I want a stunning living room

...and don't have one.

Updated it earlier this year with new sofa and curtains but the rest of the furniture is mismatched (not in a good 'eclectic' way, more in a 'blimey the MIL must have been glad to get rid of THAT' way.)

What do you think makes a living room look really cosy and inviting, even if the furniture is a bit Hmm

One colour that is highlighted throughout brings a room together.

Can you get some matching throws to chuck over the furniture to make it appear like it matches more?

Or if you can wheld a sewing machine covers would work to pull it together a bit more for you.

Anything over then the furniture botheringyou?

Clutter? post? stuff that needs dusting? I am culling all of the above and its amazing how much nicer it looks just by clearing and downsizing a bit.

On and i tiled the windowsil. Amazing how changing it from a white paint to off white tile has made ConfusedHmmGrin

New cushions.
Some nice frames and photos.
I have a big vase and some flower things with lights on (I only bought them on a whim and everyone is always commenting on them).
Nice lights.

Brilliant ideas. I like the matching throws and one highlighted colour throughout. I do have throws but they don't match and as the furniture doesn't either...

Yes - some clutter. I culled it but the kids have sneaked it back in. Will make a big difference when I rehouse their stuff, as they've set up little islands of science projects and art projects etc round the room. very cute but they have bedrooms and a playroom and the kitchen where they also have all that stuff.

We need new cushions anyway and pics in frames and flowers will help. Thanks - I feel a bit more motivated now. Just steam cleaned the carpets so they at least have lost their greyness and are bright again.
