How do I get burnt jam off teh saucepan?

My dh made some blackberry jam yesterday and in true dh fashion has left me to clear the mess up Hmm anyhow the big saucepan now has a layer of burnt jam on it - I've left it soak, had a good go with a brillo but nothing is touching it - any advice?

biological washing powder + water, soak over night

Water and biological washing powder in the pan, then boil the water. It's great, the burned bits lift straight off.
