Getting rid of damp smell after cleaning carpets

We had our carpets cleaned on Sat, but then had to go away for the night, so shut doors/windows etc. Came back to a damp smell. How do I help eliminate this?

Open doors/windows?
put on radiators?
Shake and vac, plug in air fresheners will just mask it won't it?

Should I hire a dehumidifier? Any suggestions!!!??

Thanks!

We had this done to one of the flats we rent out, carpets looked great, rooms stank! I used febreeze and it worked fine, smell all gone. I'd also open all the windows, fresh air always helps.

Open windows
Febreeze or room fragrance spray
will take a day or three to disappear

Sometimes putting on rads intensifies the smell

bicarb of soda/febreeze just have to leave windows open no heating on.
