Do you have a picture? I've googled and can't see what you're looking for, but I know my sister is getting rid of some Ikea children's furniture.

Ponders · 05/09/2010 16:55

This happened to us a few years ago with the Malm wardrobe. We did manage to get one off ebay, but because they were only recently discontinued, the price was bid right up at the end to way more than a new one would have been Confused

& of course they have to be pick-up only so needs to be reasonably close to where you live.

keep looking anyway - good luck!

here is one with red doors its sods law they've stopped doing these frames/doors/drawers. and not the units we've already got.

thanks agent, if she's getting rid of the same units i could arrange a courier if not local.

ponders - you'd have thought I'd learned my lesson as they discontinued the light oak wardrobes we have in our bedroom too, when we had only bought half of them.

the thing is the trofast ones have been around for years, and the new stuff they've replaced them with is in white.

Sorry, that's not even similar to the furniture my sis is getting rid of. Good luck in your quest to find it, though.

Do they not have any in stores left over (in the casualty bay or whatever - they often have returns in there)?

thrifty · 06/09/2010 07:51

not as far as i know. I know there is no stock left in stores in the the uk. It was discontinued in june, i think. There was a thread on here about it (but i only found out on sat). I will in to my local store and see. But you can't call the stores to see if they have it, i can't find any telephone numbers. I had to email them.

I just got the new IKEA catalogue in the mail last weekend and the trofast system is in there (the 3 heights shelves and boxes).

thrifty · 06/09/2010 09:55

hi mouse :-)
yes, they still do those, sods law dictates that they wouldn't discontinue the stuff we don't need. I don't know why they've discontinued the wardrobe frames/doors/drawers. Maybe they weren't that popular

They must have been popular cos they were always out of stock or there wasn't exactly what you wanted so had to do a couple of trips. I am angry that they have stopped selling these as I bought some thinking I could change them as the kids got older and their use changed!! I need some more drawers for my sons bedroom and now haven't got a clue what to buy as the rest of the furniture is Trofast!
