Understair storage and Paperwork storage ....

Well I have highlighted two areas that Im going to blame for my house being a hovel!

The understair just seem to have things chucked in randomly- please can you make some inexpensive suggestions for storage. We are a 3hr drive away from Ikea so thats pretty much out of the running.

What do you use for understairs storage?

I also need to tackle paperwork. We are getting rid of my side board. I can drink the booze that has been hidden in it Grin and am packing away the china and ornaments [less dusting yay!] but what on earth am Im going to do with the 3 drawers and 5 box files of paperwork and junk!

Please can you tell me your magical storage and filing ideas before I get a black bag to the whole lot of it!

Thanks

How about a two- or three-drawer filing cabinet for your paperwork - you could put it under the stairs!

I did think about a small filing cabinet under the stairs. Im going to have to clear it out. Work out what needs to stay and see what rooms their is.

In Homebase you can buy a plastic shelving unit that you can put crates on the shelves of. Cost about £25 I seem to recall.

Worked quite well. Course I then replaced it with Trofast from Ikea ... Wink

Paperwork I guess just a filing cabinet- you can get some nice ones in wood finish

I am not sure why this makes me nervous but I think paperwork under the stairs is more of a fire risk than elsewhere ... maybe because it is the exit route in an emergency?

Sequins that is a very good point. I will make sure any filing system is fire proof.
