Slimline dishwasher for family of 5, unreasonable?

Toying with the idea of buying a dishwasher. We don't have much space, so really could only have a slimline one. Is it going to be too small for my family? Should I not bother at all? Thanks

I think you'd manage but it would be on every day. I have a slimline one and there's only 3 of us and it goes on every 36 hours or everyday if I'm lazy).

Wouldn't be without my dishwasher. Full size would be better for five but slimline better than nothing IMO.

bumpybecky · 02/09/2010 22:22

we had a slimline one when thre were just 5 of us

it was ok, but needed running at least once per day and we didn't have space to wash pans in it

it's definately worth having though, we really missed it when it died (8 months before planned kicthen re-fit that gave us a full sized one)

Unlikely to have space for pans as well as plates, cutlery, glasses cups.

So you'll still need to do some washing up.

But then washing two or three pans is easier than the full works.

Smile Thanks.
These are the answers I wanted to read. I'm tired of washing upSad
I don't think it is too bad to have it on everyday, is it? As long as it's not me doing the work, it's fine Grin... oh, but lots of electricity and water, right?
I'll probably post asking for a good model.

I'm obviously doing something wrong then, because there are only 2 of us here and it's on every day Shock

We had a slimline one in our old house and now have a full sized one. We are a family of 4 and the full sized one is far better. However, if I had to choose between a slimline one or none at all I'd definitely take the slimline one!

MollysChambers · 02/09/2010 22:33

I have mine on everyday. Go buy one. You'll wonder how you ever did without it.

A dishwasher supposedly uses less water and less energy than doing the equivalent washing up by hand (so fine to have it on every day)... Can't remember where I read that tho.

We have a full size one and we put it on every day AT LEAST once and there's only 3 of us - and DD is still EBF!!!! Shock
