Which Miele ? Cat and Dog

OK have decided to treat myself to a new vacuum cleaner.

I see that many of you on here rave about Miele and in particular the Cat and Dog. I don't have any animals unless you count my 2 boys. Would I be better going for another model? Also I would like an upright this time. I have a mixture of hard floor and carpets. Any suggestions?

we got one that came with the a turbo brush, a combo carpet/hard floor head and a parquet floor head. It also has a hepa filter. It is the S5520 but you dont seem to get that one any more.

this one is about the closest to what I have

I've just checked and mine is actually the S5280. this seems to be an updated model

(Stock up on bags at the same time as it doesn't affect delivery charges)

They don't make mine any more either, it's one of the cheaper ones - no hepa filter or turbo brush but it's still fantastic on both hard floors & carpets (no pets here either) - I think the equivalent now would be \link{http://www.hughesdirect.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=MIE-S4212PLUS\S4212}

Or you could look at \link{http://www.hughesdirect.co.uk/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=MIE-S2110-ROYAL-BLUE\S2110} - hasn't been tested by Which so no idea on performance - it uses bigger bags though!

I have this S5211. Its a basic one and does the job no problem (we have no pets), I would recommend it to anyone.

I have the cat and dog one (no dog yet though) and it is fab. I got it because we plan on a new pet but also it had the 2200 power that I wanted. The others at the same price were only 1800 or so.

Very light weight but suction is amazing!

No hesitation in recommending. IF you have a look on John Lewis and Argos they were doing extended 10 year guarantees for £30.

kylesmybaby · 01/09/2010 12:24

i've got the cat and dog one and its fab. i brought mine fron Very when they had their £30 off first order type thingy x

Jacaqueen · 01/09/2010 12:37

Thanks for all the recommendations. The Dyson just isn't doing it for me anymore. Hoping that a new vacuum will inspire me to be less of a slattern.
