And the zone is....?

OP posts:
swanriver · 02/09/2010 20:35

Nutty, you need a cistus! A big one, they come in different sizes. Papery flowers, May/June-ish. Mediterranean grey green leaves. It likes to be baked. Or an abelia, less showy but does very well in my dry sunny border, small pinkish flowers. Both evergreen.

I did loads of gardening today, that's something Wink

Have just checked the application form for one school. Have failed miserably to attend any Holy Days of Obligation (I didn't realise there were quite so many), well apart from Christmas & Easter. So that's that school scuppered then...I see Sunday is not enough.

Nuttybear · 02/09/2010 21:08

Swan Yes, cistus would be perfect. They have those outside DH's school and I could't think where I could put one, you have now put the jigsaw pieces together. I think I'm going for the hot pink ones. I'll look up abelia I don't know that one. Our pumpkins are doing well we have three fat ones. I have promised DH not to plant them again as they did take over the whole bed, covering stawberries, beans, honeysuckle & more!
Jacqueline Wilson is one of our local stars ofen see her out shopping!
Well I'm off to do some ironing & make notes for the morning, have to get back into the routine! Have a good night everyoneSmile

dylsmum1998 · 02/09/2010 22:37

evening all.

Ruby choosing schools is not fun at all, good luck making your choice

OFM having to buy uniform for 2dc hs broke me this summer, I don't envy you with your brood when it comes to school clothing. hope dd enjoys her first day in reception tomorrow

dd had her first day at school, she loved it Smile. She woke up early mum mum its thursday I'm going to big school, can we make my lunch now. then skipped the whole way to school and went in with a big smile on her face. I just hope tomorrow goes well, although I suspect she will be tired tomorrow as she wrapped her dad round her finger at bedtime and was still awake just before 9pm. I hd to go to a meeting at ds's school so got her dad to come round and pput her to bed- should have just taken her with me Hmm

Ds is off to secondary tomorrow. He has to get 2 buses to get there, am feeling veyr nervous about him going, he doesn't want me to go to the bus stop with him (and laughed when I offered to get the bus with him). My babies ar getting to grown up Sad

Am off to bed as am feeling very tired

be back tomorrow

dylsmum1998 · 03/09/2010 09:32

swanriver · 03/09/2010 10:04

Feeling a bit useless this morning, after a very bad night, with both twins ending up in our bed (wet sheets), loads of pushing and shoving from 6am onwards, helpful but in the end totally fed up husband who went to work with usual green smoke coming out his ears Hmm House is a complete mess, possibly just needs 2 hours blitzingBlush
dd being infuriatingly eager to get to school
ds1 infuriatingly calm and laid back
ds2 screaming about goalie gloves, and lego track, and some imaginary playdate where he wins all his friend's legoShock

Nice chat with mums at school gate though Grin

bbl with more coherent plan

Good morning FLYladies of yoreSmile

I am bookmarking myself on here so I can rejoin you all on Monday.
DS starts school full time then, and I will have no more excuses not to get the house in order, but I know I need help, and you lot are it!

I will try and read up and catch up on who is here and how you all are over the weekend....

OverflowingMum · 03/09/2010 10:27

morning all

dyls I was so stressed this time last year when ds1 started secondary school. He gets 2 busses too, and I made him ring me when he got there for the first week (much to his embarressmant and annoyance- he only complied because I told him if he hadn't rung by a certain time I would arrive at school tocheck he'd got there ok!!LOL)
Glad dd enjoyed her first day, my dd4 has gone in super cheerful and excited todayGrin

swan yesterday evening sounds challenging- but you sounded calm, well done you!
very Envy of your gardening, my garden is a mess just now, can't seem to get round to itHmm Blush
Boo for early start though and rubbish night...

nutty glad ds was happy going into yr 1. dd3 hated it last year when she moved into yr 1Hmm (then again she is hating it now in yr2...she just doesn't do change LOL)

well, 5 dc atschool today... DS2 at home ...
I'm struggling to remember who needs to be where when...lol

DD4 was sooo excitedabout going into reception bless her! She finishes at 1.00 today...so now need to crack on and get stuff done...

quick list:

washing reboot
hang clothes up in dc room
sort clean washing on my bed
hang up
fill in forms for dd1 secondary school

this afternoon:
baking with dd4 and ds2
more washing (spot the theme!)

right, BBLGrin

swanriver · 03/09/2010 10:51

OFM I was not calm yest Blush had to get in the car on pretext of rescuing a lost shoe from swimming baths just to escape from Bedtime and annoying family, and only returned at 9pm...

Anyway, have got loads done this morning so feeling a bit better (this thread does help, really!)
I am writing things in diary feverishly so do know who is meant to be where and when. Mother has just rung to ask me to go round to flat to sweep her path for new tenants, actually feels like a nice excursion, for once!

Hi All. Have guests. Chaos.

Hi Jas - I've just come back (EV here)

Makingchanges · 03/09/2010 12:03

OFM Your DD sounds like mine at starting reception. Mine was jumping up and down outside yesterday and got up super early today. In fact we were early both days and don't think we managed that all year last year, even when only there for afternoons Blush

Picking DD up at 12.30 so update and list for this afternoon

Done

  • DD to reception
  • Fed parents cat (they are away)
  • Been to chemist as DH still not well - He is now at home and quarantined in bedroom as I can't get it and miss induction at Uni.
  • Been and done household shopping - all cleaning and bathroom products - hate that shop as get very little food and it costs loads but at least its only once a month.
  • Unloaded and put away all shopping

To Do

  • Pick up DD from reception
  • Take DD to park as promised yesterday
  • Lunch for me
  • More washing
  • More uni work
  • Tidy kitchen
  • Sort out weekend plans re cousins wedding which may / may not be attending depending on dd
  • Sort out DDs swimming lesson - need GP to cover as DH ill and I can't swim Blush
  • Email friend we plans for Monday - Carsharing to uni
  • Chill and relax with a mini bottle of wine
dylsmum1998 · 03/09/2010 12:42

Nutty its lovely here too- typical as dc have gone back to school!

Swan yes not long now til I go and collect dd, ds will be back about an hour after we get back. I usually have one or other of the children here, or dd is in nursery where if I get bored I could go and collect her when i wanted. Can't do that anymore

OFM hehe thats what I said I would do if ds didn't text me at each change lol. He started to walk to the bus stop this morning then came back to ask me too go with him. We got to the bus stop he saw there were other boys (from diff. school) waiting and said you can go now mum Grin

MC my dd is the same, am so relieved as when I took her to nursery she would often get upset/sad about me leaving her. Today when I took her to school another lo was not wanting to go in, dd said to me "I don't do that anymore do I because I'm a big girl at big school" Shock Grin

Quick update before I have some lunch an dcrack on again

to do

put dry washing away
iron
s&s bathroom
unload washer
wash kitchen floor
dust

done;
tidy downstairs
unload/reload washer
mission
clean/weed front garden
clean windows
hoover

geting there with the list. tummy rumbling BBL

dylsmum1998 · 03/09/2010 14:58

scattyspice · 03/09/2010 18:12

Hi all. Sorry I've been absent. last week of holidays has nearly killed me!! I think I over filled it Hmm. Mine don't go back til Tues next week Shock.

Well done to all those starting school/high school Smile.

I resolve to start flying again next week.

swanriver · 03/09/2010 19:49

We've had Chinese takeaway (dh's choice)
ds has been on his Lego city playdate
dd has been to visit a friend

and all seems relatively peaceful (except that neighbour has just popped her head over fence and told the boys to stop shouting Blush - I think ds1 had just kicked ds2...

kitchen cleaner - floors washed, worktops scrubbed
playroom hoovered, tidied but not particulariy sorted
beds remade
3rd load of washing on, 2 hung out and brought in
suitcases upstairs, all smelly clothes removed Blush

think I will just rush upstairs and hoover dcs rooms now while everyone still outside..

needless to say not done mother's path, will have to go first thing tomorrow Blush

OP posts:
dylsmum1998 · 04/09/2010 10:54

SCatty we always try to cram too much into the last days of the holiday too

Swan- chinese yummy!

Was very Shock when both dc came home with homework last night. Ds has an art project to do- not his thing at all. and dd had a colouring sheet with some writing to do on it and 2 reading books.
dd has done hers, ds has made a good start we need to go to the shops and buy supplies for him to complete it though.

this morning I have
tidied
hoovered
washed up
unload washer
sort dry washing
sorted out paperwork mountain

to do
get in washing once dry
iron
menu plan
begin batch cooking
post letters
take ds to town for art stuff
buy stamps to post letters

I have also discovered I cn get online to see a lot of uni stuff so need to have a good look through all of that in the next couple of days and prepare myself. off to have a sort through cupboards etc and see what I can make for this weeks dinners

Have a good day all

swanriver · 04/09/2010 12:54

woken by mother reminding me to sweep path Hmm
drove to mum's flat, swept path, and removed 8 bags of leaves! As tenants arrived (they were early) to be embroiled in conversation about whether there was an internet connection (mum was not sure Shock...????
then drove to dump, got rid of bags
now returned absolutely knackered

dh was also knackered by taking three quarrelling dcs to park to play football..
I think I'll take the Art Project Dylsmum Grin
off to Richmond to visit a friend of dh for barbecue this afternoon, not looking forward to having to be sociable, attractive or vivaceous

wendyhappysmile · 04/09/2010 18:28

Hiya all
Been out this morning for a coffee with friend at local friendly coffee shop - good job I go there a lot as we were there two hours chatting!

Then a National Trust, tiresome tedious drive there through urban snarl, took well over an hour to drive about 20 miles. Love the place but always forget about the drive.

Baby in breech position, very uncomfortable. You all know how I worry about things, I am only 28 weeks but already worrying it won't turn and i'll need a C section blah blah blah.

Otherwise, bought a pram on ebay, immaculate, barely used mamas and papas for only £39.99 so very pleased. Hopefully it is fine when I pick it up but can't complain for that price! Still have my old one but was never happy with it and I walk such a lot now and do shopping locally etc, so I wanted a 'proper' pram with a carrycot and parent facing seat unit etc.

This sec school lark sounds stressful from a parent's perspective. You are all coping well!

BB tomorrow

dylsmum1998 · 05/09/2010 08:29

Swan wow thats a lot of leaves!

Wendy pram sounds a great bargain

We are up today and getting ready to go for a swim. Was meant to be just me and ds, but dd's dad tripped over her feet yesterday and broke his arm. So she home now Smile. Just means I won't be swimming but will be getting the children to swim lots

BBL

Nuttybear · 05/09/2010 10:05

Hi, Mustget dressed so see you all on Thursday. I don't fly on working days. Would lovel to get some gardening done today BUT must leave the PC AND GET DRESSED!
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND. [SMILE]

wendyhappysmile · 05/09/2010 10:52

Nutty have a good week
dyls enjoy the swim session

Been to the car boot sale this morning, got DD a Disney princess lamp for her bedroom for £2 and a few other bits. So the baby has gained her Winnie the Pooh lamp!

Need to arrange to collect pram I've bought, do some washing as it's going to rain tomorrow and Tues apparently. Get uniform out etc.

Will bb tomorrow

swanriver · 05/09/2010 21:54

Nutty turned out we were in Petersham yest for barbecue, so I was thinking of you; goodness Richmond and whereabouts are lovely, I even saw some cows Shock grazing the Thames Path, not to speak of lovely eclectic architecture everywhere. Barbecue not bad either, esp since dh's friend's friend's garden had a zip wire.

Church am, afternoon we went to Toy Story 111 (which dh said was dull and dark - I sort of admired it but can't say it was a tonic) - why oh why have I managed to miss the screening of Eclipse - it seems to have left London completely except for one lone cinema in Greenwich - I'm now grinding my teeth as I wait for DVD to come out.
Then park, then more football, fishcakes...a bit of bagging up of dead honeysuckle...glass or two of rose.

Tomorrow I'm taking ds2 to be assessed for possible Asperger's by NHS team - I'm glad we can get some professional feedback at last

Well done on pram Wendy - I didn't have one, thinking I would get by with pushchair, and I always regretted it, and ended up scrounging my sister's for last month the baby fitted in one! It's only a short time you need one, but for that short time it makes a tremendous difference not having to strap them into draughty pushchairs you have to keep adjusting.

OP posts:
wendyhappysmile · 05/09/2010 22:35

Good luck, Swan tomorrow with NHS appt. I had a pramette which only lasted as a lay down pram til about 6 - 8 weeks with DD and DS, was determined for a proper pram this time!
BB tomorrow
