hello
have just returned from 10 days camping to a stinking house, the electrics having blown obviously the minute we left. Fridge and freezer stuffed with food which we chucked and have scrubbed fridge with hot water, bit of bleach, bicarb, washing up liquid, then rinsed again and again. Left bowl of bicarb in water, cut up lemon and bowl of vinegar (was desperate)overnight but still gag when open fridge door. Any ideas how to get rid of smell?

Could you leave it open for a few days? Not plugged in obv!

You may be covered on your insurance though for a new one if you really can't get the smell out.

Poor a couple of teaspoons of Milton down the little drainage hole at the bottom.

Works a treat.

Thanks Buda, difficult to live without one though (she says after 10 days living out of coolbox). I will try the Milton trick, Sherbet, thank you.

A bowl of instant coffee powder, absorbs smells

Does your fridge have a little hole at the back for the water to drain away? We had a similar situation and I could not get rid of the smell. Turns out there is a little tray screwed in to the back on the fridge that catches the water that drains, we had spilt milk in to our and it had festered and gone rotten - had to pull out the fridge, unscrew it and take the tray out. Might be worth a look Smile
