Sick smell

OK, I've vanished the stain, shampooed, scrubbed with scented shampoo, added lemon juice, sprayed room spray over it, but I can't get the smell of sick out of my (new ) carpet. What do I do?

ANYONE?

Never tried it, but bicarbonate of soda in a paste applied to the spot that you allow to dry and then hoover up is supposed to work...?

I've no idea if it would affect the colour or pattern, but I suspect not.

Otherwise, how about white vinegar? It gets rid of sweaty smells in clothes and towels that aren't too fresh...

Oh, I forgot to add that I'd tried bicarb. Thanks though.
