what do you when you clean your loo and what do you use?

Bathroom cleaner on the outside, bleach down it and scrub, leave the toilet brush in the bowl soaking in the bleach. Tell everyone to not use the tolet for an hour. Flush. Wash out brush holder, place brush back in it.

I may need to get out more. Blush

CupcakesHay · 22/08/2010 14:24

How often do you do that BeenBeta - is once a week ok?

I'm appalling at cleaning - and just starting (i hope) to get better....

BeenBeta · 22/08/2010 15:33

Once a week between 10.30 - 12.30 on Saturday while DW goes out with DSs.

I definitely need to get out more. Grin

cookielove · 22/08/2010 15:36

I throw some bleach down when it starts to look dirty, then a few hours later i remember that i did that, and using a flannel over my mouth and noise i run in quickly and flush, run out quickly gasping for air. Grin I may wipe off the dust with some toliet paper.

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 22/08/2010 15:38

Daily inside with cheap soap (bubble bath or some such) and the seat and top of rim with vinegar solution. Outside a couple of times a week with vinegar solution. Once a week with bleach and once a fortnight or so with limescale remover.

I need to get out more. In my defense DD (2.9) constantly covers the seat in sticky finger prints and DP is the master of skid marks...

QueeferSutherland · 22/08/2010 16:01

Spray outside/lid/seat with sqirty-sqirt-squirt (as it is known in our house) once or twice a week, as needed. Wiped with loo-roll or kitchen towel.

Bleach in bowl 2-3 times a week. Left until next used.

Cistern wiped same time as sink & bath etc, again with squirty-squirt-squirt.

BuzzingNoise · 22/08/2010 16:06

Parazone wipes on the outside, seat and rim daily. Bleach down inside and a scrub with loo brush daily.

dustycups · 22/08/2010 16:21

lol @ squirty -squirt-squirt!

StealthPolarBear · 22/08/2010 16:24

as part of general bathrooom clean,l once a week:

wipe the entire outside with a cloth and either washing up liquid or jif etc. Then squirt bleach down, brush round then flush while rinsing the brush.

StealthPolarBear · 22/08/2010 16:25

oh and when I say every week, that's officially. Unofficially, when I start to dread going to the toilet I realise it desperately needs a clean!

MavisG · 22/08/2010 16:31

Bicarb down it once a week & scrub with loo brush, which I then squirt with squirty stuff and put back. Squirty stuff on the outside & seat, too, with cloth reserved for purpose. Don't see the need for bleach.

bebesequin · 22/08/2010 17:20

General spray to outside -shot of bleach down it and squirt of bleach inside cistern to give a mini clean after every flush- only works on non designer loo - upstairs designer loo can' t access cistern- do every day

realitychick · 22/08/2010 18:48

Outside - once every couple of weeks with bathroom cleaner or if I notice it needs doing. Lid, rim and behind - every other day with dettol spray or antibac wipe. Inside with bubble bath once a day or so and blue harpic once a month to get rid of limescale.

stofstg · 24/08/2010 22:56

thanks everyone. just wondered if i do mine enough thats all. i only clean it once a week. will probably do it more often i think now. interesting that a couple of you mentioned the use of bubble bath, etc. does that clean and kill germs as say harpic or domestos or is that just for the fragrance?

well, flylady (could be useful to you if you are starting to get domesticated - im still in the 'thinking about it' stage!) says -

every day do swish and swipe - chuck any old cleaner/shampoo down it and scrub with loo brush, and use squirty squirt squirt Grin on the seat.

Then once a week do
*bleach down pan - leave brush in to disinfect brush at same time,
*whilst you are waiting for the bleach to do its business, squirt surface cleaner/flash around and wipe off with kitchen roll - do cistern and lid first, then use different wipe for seat, and different again for base.
*now its time to scrub with the brush, then hold it in the stream of clean water to clean the brush as you flush.

ps - i dont DO this, but one day i may...
