is there a way of getting marks off oilcloth?

I have an oil cloth tablecloth which I bought to protect the table from the kids drawing/sticking / eating!
It has loads of marks on now, felt tip, biro and stuff I have no idea about.
I have ever only really given it a wipe with some kitchen cleaner - is it possible to put oilcloth in the washing machine or will it destroy the 'oilness' of it?
Thanks

Try "sticky stuff remover" from the lakeland catalogue - should shift biro at any rate!

i use a 'magic eraser' to get rid of marks on mine - it's a white block that you just wet and wipe over the marks. flash do one i think.

I find leaving it in a sunny window seems to remove tomato sauce stains!
