Flies.... Help.

The little fruit flies. They are everywhere. (Open Plan lving/kitchen/diner)

We had them a while back and found out that my lovely Ds had hidden a potato. Get rid of the potato and the flies go.

But they are back and there's friggin loads of them. I've looked everywhere for more hidden food but there is none.

So where the bloody hell are they coming from and how do I get rid of them?

You need to find the source.

Check the following: (1) your washing basket; (2) Food fallen between or behind cabinets (3) Under the table (4) pet food bowls (5) Bags.

LOL @ belledechocolatefluffybunny

whomovedmychocolate Washing basket in the bathroom, all washing finished at weekend, There's no gaps between or behind the cabinets for food to go (small kitchen too)The only gap in the place is around the washing machine but we got a new one a couple day's ago and I swept and mopped underneath before the new one went in, Don't have a table yet Sad No pets and shopping bags where washed at the weekend and are hung on their hooks in the hallway. I've emptied and bleached the bin and the cupboard it sits in, I cleaned the cooker at the weekend.

So you see my Dilema. lol. It's driving me crazy. Confused

LOL. If I knew you I'd call you a cheeky bitch. Grin

Someone just told me putting a lit candle in a bowl of water will attract and drown the flies so I'm off to dig out my candles.

(I'm sure they are coming from the flat next door, Just got to figure out where they are getting in)

That's true actually, particularly a scented candle.

fromheretomaternity · 16/08/2010 21:22

We just had this too. Turned out one of our bins had some old food in it which had gone all mouldy. Contents of bin, and bin itself, now outside in the wheely bin. Still lots of the little blighters around.

Bought some Rentokil fly killer but it's crap. Best to swat them I think.

I've got the same problem - I've bought some fly paper (and managed to get the sticky stuff all over my hands!) It's not very pretty in my kitchen, but there's about 10 of the little bastards stuck on it already. I've also got some sticky things for the windows; once again they don't look great, but seem to be quite effective so far.

Like you lifeasa I can't work out where the hell the're coming from!

I also bought a venus fly trap - useless at catching them, but the whole family has turned sadistic and is feeding dead flies to the plant - very satisfying!!

i too have these annoying teeny tiby flies too small to swat

hace resorted to pegging a tea towel tightly over my fruit bowl, as they seemed to like that, but there are still a few Angry
