Help! Nail varnish on Bedside chest

Help, my mum has managed to spill nail varnish on her bedside cabinet. It's oak or oak veneer, it's from the Sonoma range from M & S. Any suggestions on how to remove the stain? It's only a small area but don't want to make it any worse. Thought someone on here might have an idea.

if you can't scratch off the dried varnish I would dab VERY GENTLY with diluted nail varnish remover and have a damp cloth to rub the acetone off afterwards

Thank you for the reply, it's the first time I've started a thread. Haven't had chance to try it yet but fingers crossed it will work.
