I've done a quick search and cannot find any answers....

Where do you keep your onions? I currently keep mine in a bowl inside the larder but there must be a better way?

Interested to know what other people do!

in the kitchen in a dark niche together with the potatoes.
they need dark, cool, airy or they will sprout or go bad. (just like potatoes really)

loopyloops · 14/08/2010 20:15

In the kitchen cupboard, which has a wire rack drawer. With potatoes and pasta.

scurryfunge · 14/08/2010 20:16

In a wicker basket within a butchers block thingy.

purpleturtle · 14/08/2010 20:16

In a bag in a kitchen cupboard. Would be in the larder if I had one. Envy

LadyBee · 14/08/2010 20:46

In a hessian bag, hung on hook on the door of the cupboard under our stairs (with the potatoes). All our 'stores' are in that cupboard on some shelves. We have tiny galley kitchen with v little storage.

xkaylax · 14/08/2010 20:50

I put mine in the fridge Blush

Is this wrong though?

DramaInPyjamas · 14/08/2010 20:54

I put mine in the salad drawer of the fridge, judging by this thread I am wrong though..?

I do have an 'onion bag' that I got free when I bought my 'potato bag' from Kleeneze or such place, but don't have anywhere to hang it.

nannyl · 14/08/2010 21:50

I have an 'onion' bag (from the NT gift shop)

I also have a potatoe and a garlic bag and use them all

domesticsluttery · 14/08/2010 21:52

In the vegetable basket with potatoes, carrots etc. Cool, dark and dry.

mamasunshine · 14/08/2010 22:42

I didn't think you were supposed to keep onions and potatoes together?!! Where did I get that from? I'm always trying to keep mine apart!

ZZZenAgain · 14/08/2010 22:43

in a basket on their own

I never thought of putting them in with the potatoes...

ZZZenAgain · 14/08/2010 22:45

in a basket with a stack of newspapers on top actually, not for any particular reason though

tethersend · 14/08/2010 22:47

On a string around French DP's neck. Obviously.

gomummy · 14/08/2010 22:49

In an onion box (wooden, ventilated box that also stores potatoes).

Minxie1977 · 14/08/2010 22:50

In an onion bag in a cupboard.

Would prefer a string - where can i get me a nice French bit on the side man tethers? - exclusively for onion holding , of course Wink

I have a lovely dish that is on my worktop. I keep onions, shallots, garlic and lemons and limes in it.
