Tried to clean marks (radiator dust) off wall. Made awful mess. How to clean it up?

I have really really annoying radiators. The covers cant be removed and the slits in them are very tiny so removing the dust is impossible (tried hoover, need giant pipecleaner).

Soooooo when they are turned on they leave horrid grey dust marks on the walls. I tried to wipe these marks off today but have just spread the horrid grey marks over an ever increasingly large area- the more I wipe the more it spreads.

Oh how I wish i had left it well alone Angry. The wall now looks, erm, very grimy Blush.

Can anyone suggest anything? A particular cleaning product maybe? If I carry on like this I am going to end up with a grey room which will need painting Confused.

Have you tried dabbing a damp cloth in bicarb and rubbing with that? It works very well on crayon anyway Grin

yeah good one easily.. you could also try; on a spot first, hot white vinegar with a micro fibre cloth and clean the marks inwards rather than spreading the marks outwards.
