Bamboo towels

Despite trawling through an abundance of searches and websites I can seem to find the answer to the question of the difference between various types of bamboo towels.

I thought 'there must be someone on Mumsnet who knows!'

Most towels are 70% bamboo 30% cotton and around 550gsm.

One site said 750gsm was better - prob thicker and heavier but still 70/30.

One site said 85%/15% was better - more absorbent but only 550gsm.

One site said 100% was better - and only 450gsm. But very soft and silky!

If bamboo is such a wonder fabric - hypoallergenic, eco, 3 times more absorbent, then maybe previous 'rules' of plush towels don't apply and better to look for more % rather than thickness???

I know this is rather mundane question but I'm nearly 40 and never bought a new towel in my life - my mum has always given me her old towels and I want to splash out as I'm in my nesty phase of my 2nd preg!

Cheers all!

Well bugger me I thought all towels were 100% cotton.

Not much use to you OP but I've learned something new today Wink
