Stairgates and cats

hello i unfortunately have tall thin house with many stairs - needless to say i am going to need plenty of stairgates (2 babies) - can i ask how do these work with pets in particular cats - do they just jump over them? i have seen one version with a cat flat in it but wondering what happens with the standard ones? I really would prefer not to restrict the cats movement around the house if it is not necessary. I may just buy the cat flat versions unless anyone has any other ideas.

many thanks.

No idea, sorry. Our cat isn't allowed upstairs - thought you might be hoping the stair gate would help effect this!

Our cats can fit between the bars! If you have a fattie maybe this won't work though...

Cat used to just jump over no problem.

They can jump them with ease. However the lazy ones go through the bars instead and the spoilt ones sit in front of them mewing pathetically until some one picks them up and lifts them over/opens the gate for them Grin
