How can you remove emulsion from carpet?

Unfortunately when decorating I managed to splash some on the carpet. I didn't realise at the time so it has now hardened. Any tips on how to remove or am I stuck with it?

Nope it comes off with 'here we go again!" the miraculous white vinegar; leave some for an hour or so on the mark and it just comes away.

Wow thanks for that ppeatfruit. I have it in the house so will give it a bash. I would never have thought of that!
