ds has a ver very very well loved monkey he sleeps with. he reaches out for monkey in the night and when he stirs chews on monkey's paws!
so i can't swipe monkey overnight and i'm a bit anxious about doing daytime nap without him.
i have put him in the washer before ds became super attached to him but can't remember how long it took to dry it.

how long does a cuddly toy take to dry without a tumbledryer?

any speedy tips?

what is the weather like? If it is sunny stick it outside in the sun. If it is bad weather then you could put the heating on for a short while and sit it on a radiator to dry.

MillyMollyMardy · 02/08/2010 16:39

if you are very careful and he doesn't have any metal bits he can be dried out in short bursts in the microwave. Do not let him get really hot or really dry or he will be flambeed.

i do what my mum used to do

turn the oven on low and hang him over the door

CouldOfWouldOfShouldOf · 02/08/2010 16:43

A couple of hours on a full radiator.
I still do this with DD's monkey and she'll be 9 this month!

Poledra · 02/08/2010 16:46

No no no, don't risk the microwave. DH put DD2's Hot Ted (you know, the ones with the wheat inside that you warm in the microwave) into the microwave without realising that the turntable wasn't on straight and not turning. Ted ended up with a badly scorched foot and the kitchen stank of singed plush! Luckily, DD2 was not that attached to him and was happy to get to go choose a new one.

Do Not Do It with Dearly-Loved Toy!!

Thanks for advice! Think I'll wait till next super hot day and do it then. I'm not brave enough to risk oven or microwave! Dh still moans about blue ted getting singed on a radiator!
Maybe I'll try persuading ds a different monkey would be just as good.

DS 4 has a (jellybean?) monkey which dries in about an hour in the sun or on a radiator.

Provided it has had a good spin in the washing machine it can virtually be given straight back to him (and given how much he chews/sucks it he isn't adverse to it being a bit damp!)

mrsflux · 02/08/2010 18:51

Nancy - do you mean this one? here
That is ds' monkey.

Oh an hour should be fine!

If it's a really special toy why on't you get an extra replacement while you can in case of monkey no.1 getting lost? It also says on the jellybean website that they can be surface dried with a hairdryer!

nancydrewrocked · 02/08/2010 20:39

DS has this one

I would guess they have the same filling and so similar drying times. Good luck

Oh and thank you for directing me to that site. I bought DS's in Trotters when he was born and I think we are now on number 5. I usually have one in reserve but last one was lost about 20mths ago and Trotters stopped selling them.

Never thought to google the name...
