Carpet cleaning - putting furniture back down.

Hi,

This has probably been discussed before but searching threw up hundreds of carpet cleaning threads and I havent the energy to go through them.

I want to hire a carpet cleaner but because of the house layout (ie SMALL) I can't empty the room of furniture while I do it.

What does everyone do? My plan is to squish the sofas to one side of the room while I clean the carpet and then move them to the other side of the room while I do the other half.

Will I just end up with soggy sofas and a carpet that won't dry under them? Havent done it before so no idea how wet the carpet will be after washing or how long it will take to dry out..

My carpet cleaning man puts down little bits of foil under the legs of each item (foil side down). This seems to keep the furniture dry, helps if I move the furniture around every couple hours, too.

Could you do one side of room one day and the other side of the room a week later?

Sorry, meant to say foil-backed bits of paper under each furniture leg.
