I've always wanted some of these, but it seemed like a sillydaft amount to spend on candles, but the other day I just thought 'sod it', and it's felt like Autumn here for weeks, so I bought samplers of...

cinnamon stick
warm apple crisp
creamy caramel
gingerbread
spiced pear
vanilla cupcake
christmas punch
sparkling cinnamon
french vanilla
mulled wine
spiced orange
christmas cookie
apple cider
cinnamon and sugar
mulling spices
candied apple
pomegranate cider
shortbread cookie
spiced apple
brown sugar and spice
chocolate cappuchino
vanilla caramel

I've put them on a bookshelf in the livingroom and the whole room smells all sweet and fruity and spicy without me even unwrapping any, let alone lighting them.

now i've read that the little tart things give the strongest smell, so I can feel my debit card twitching already

It's a photo in a magazine she sent me and it's the only one that mentions no stockists.

I want it, dammit!

To go with my Tommy Hilfiger and Nautica bed sets.

listenandlearn · 31/07/2010 22:53

hope the op's on comission ive just ordered some tartlets and burner as well.lol

expatinscotland · 31/07/2010 22:54

Yeah, I don't think Union Jack bed sets would be very popular here in the west of Scotland or in this house.

I quite like them, but I can just visualise DH's cat's bum face if I bought one for our bed or the childrens'.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 31/07/2010 22:56

OP, what have you wrought?! Yankee candles are fast becoming the new Vitalumiere/Hush cardigown of MN.

Expat, I reckon it's the fact that something like that is not typical of one's usual taste that can make it so oddly appealing sometimes.

Sorry, garbled sentence, just finished expressing and am on the wine

DorotheaPlenticlew · 31/07/2010 22:56

xpost, I meant the Old Glory p/c ...

jillhastwoponies · 01/08/2010 09:22

Ooooh, gingerbread....you have to try the gingerbread one...

and spiced orange is yum...

I'm getting very excited, and flitting all over the internet just so I can read about candles...deleting my internet history so Dh and DS don't realise I've gone barking mad. I'm even devouring the reviews on the QVC website for pity's sake.

Yankee has it's own facebook page with a forum!

I love them!! I have a tart burner, so i buy tarts at £1.10 each...

I have on at the moment fruit salad, but then i'm venturing onto black cherry which is my fav at the minute!!

Goldenbrown1981 · 05/10/2011 15:50

As someone who used to make candles, I don't rate Yankee at all. You don't get much scent for your £ in my opinion and they burn a lot faster than they could, but then again, they want to sell lots don't they!

I love the candles by this woman www.deelights.co.uk/
I met her when I was making candles and loved her stuff so much I used it for my wedding favours.

LordOfTheFlies · 06/10/2011 18:25

Midsummer Night
Vanilla Lime
Christmas Cookie
Christmas Cupcake
Sparkling Cinnamon
Red Apple Wreath
All the apple ones -spiced or otherwise (can't remember the names!)

Loved Creme Brulee but it's discontinued

I buy mine from QVC or a stall in the indoor market. I like the large jars, you have to burn them correctly (about 3-4 hours first time, keep the wick trimmed)

I don't smoke or drink so I deserve a £17 candle now and again -DH I'm looking at you!

freakfire · 15/05/2014 14:57

The tartlets are definitely the strongest in my experience, and last a good few times too so are better value. I only ever buy the tartlets

Salazar · 15/05/2014 15:56

Clean cotton is my all time fave.

mswibble · 15/05/2014 16:01

November Rain and Midnight Jasmine are my faves. Love love love them! I do get ever so arsey though when they start to tunnel even though I follow the guidelines to the letter. Stopped getting the large jars for this reason.

Buxtonstill · 08/01/2016 19:27

Candy Cane lane is gorgeous. Currently burning that and chocolate pudding!
