Sofa Reupholstery - best way to go?

Hi

Has anyone used Plumbs for sofa reupholstery, are they any good? Any idea of a rough price for a large 3 seater sofa? There are no prices on their website, you have to get one of their reps round.
Is this something I could realistically attempt myself without ruining the sofa if it goes wrong?

It all depends on what material you want to use, whether your sofa has separate seat and back cushions and whether you want loose or fixed covers. If you want (as I did) a good quality covering material, back cushions, seat cushions and piping it will cost quite a lot of money.
Firms like Plumbs do "loss leaders" with basic materials etc but as soon as you start choosing another material and any extras the cost will mount up.
If you are good at sewing you can do it yourself, but you will need a heavy duty sewing machine and somewhere where you can lay out the material for cutting.

I can't remember how much mine were but I had 2 recovered with loose covers from Plumbs and I can't say I'm impressed with the quality
