"silver" jewellery

Help please oh wise ones!
I have a weakness for "siver" rings and bracelets - sadly not the real thing but silver coloured. They always start off looking great but something in my skin seems to turn it orangy after a couple of weeks wear. Any ideas how to restore it to its original silver colour?
Thanks

Paint the inside of the jewellery with clear nail varnish.

Thanks - good idea. Is there nothing to be done for the jewellery that is already discoloured though?
Anyone know what causes the problem?

Crumple up some tinfoil, add some soda crystals and boiling water and put your silver on top. Any tarnish will lift off after 1/2 an hour. Rinse with cold water, dry then paint with clear nail varnish.

Thanks SEQ!
Trying it out now. I'll let you know how I get on.

It bubbles and fizzes like something from Hogwarts but cleans everything well.

Swans - does that work on non-silver silver things though?

I've heard that toothpaste with baking powder in it is wonderful for this sort of thing.

I tried it on an EPNS cake stand and some other bits and pieces and they came up really clean but I have also tried a paste of Barkeeper's Friend (I think there is one especially for silver metals) and it cleans non silver well.

ooh, interesting, thanks
