Whiffy toilet !

Main bathroom toilet (upstairs) sometimes seems to get quite smelly from the soil pipe/drains. Usually put Domestos (green/black bottle one) down about twice a week. Any ideas as to how to prevent it? Doesn't seem to affect cloakroom toilet which is directly underneath.

Here are some thoughts on investigations you might want to make.

Does the upstairs toilet have water filling the bottom of it completley so there is no gap letting smells back round the U Bend?

Does the upstairs toilet outflow empty in the same pipe as the shower/sink in the same room. If so the smell is coming up the sink/shower plug hole.

Is the upstairs toilet soil pipe leaking under the floor boards?

Is the soil pipe blocked from the upstairs toilet down to the level of the cloakroom toilet. That happened to us.
