hot soapy water, soak for a bit then rub off

WD40 after the above.

Mayonnaise. I got this from Kim and Aggie and it does work!

I have some brilliant stuff called Sticky Stuff Remover from Betterware (the door to door people). I think Robert Dyas do something similar.

Does exactly what it says on the tin!! You dab it onto the sticker residue, leave for a few minutes and the whole lot just slides off. Also very useful for pesky price labels that don't peel off properly.

I second the Sticky Stuff Remover, you can get it from B&Q too. Best to get the top paper bit off first then put the sticky stuff remover on and it turns the sticky bit plastic like and it peels straight off.

You may need 2 applications but most time it comes off after one.

Test it first on a hidden area just in case.

I asked this question here a couple of months ago!

WD40 gets the left-over sticky bits off - worked an absolute treat. I can confirm it.
