garden patios

Anyone know a good way to tackle moss and muck on garden paths, patios, decking etc? Been a bit put off by idea of pressure-washing or buying toxic muck and having to wear a full rubber bodysuit...

sorry only advice would have been a pressure washer, we did the path outside our house and it came up great, got rid of the moss.

Pootles2010 · 22/07/2010 11:44

No silly you don't use the pressure washer, you sell the idea to your dh/dp as a new toy, men love pressure washers.

LOL Pootles2010!!

I read somewhere that pressure washing pushes the teeny moss particles deep into the deck or whatever, so it just gets worse.

I'm going to try out this new stuff I've seen by a company I've become a big fan of who do this amazing cleaner called Revolution Clean. They've also got another product called Garden Genie - it claims to kill moss and algae, dirt and other stuff and is biodegradable, non-toxic and pet safe. It says to spray and walk away, then it starts working in 24 hours and keeps on working for months.

I'm going to get me some and give it a go. I'll post my results so watch this space! If it works, then our dh/dps will have no pressure washer toy to play with though

Yeah Pootles my DH bought pressure washer; broke up patio with it and then IT broke nearly 1000@s up the swannee boys toys eh

I trust hot white vinegar for all my cleaning problems (it bloody works and is SOO cheap).

maidinheaven · 01/08/2010 21:34

I came across a great website for cleaning remedies called hintsandthings maybe you'll find the best answer there

MsPZ · 03/08/2010 20:47

Well, I've just received the Garden Genie - can't wait to try it out! I'll post the results

Thanks for all the replies - I have been paying attention! It looks like I'm going to take two bits of your advice. DH is of course power mad and is borrowing a pressure-washer. Me, I've found that Garden Genie (almost typed Greenie) on Amazon and have ordered some. He and I are going to do separate bits of the patio (with a strict demarcation) and see who wins...

Good news to report from the battleground that is my patio: the recommended product - Garden Genie from actclean.co.uk - was easy to use and has worked. In fact it still is working - the paving stones get cleaner each time it rains. DH tried power-washing but only managed to destroy the cement/grout stuff between the slabs. So a clear winner... thanks again to all those who wrote.
