I'm going to get a dishwasher! But which one?

Basically I am canvassing opinion before I buy. Must be AA/AAA rated (have I got that bit right?) I really DON'T want something all-singing, all-dancing, I just want it to wash dishes without breaking

TIA

I'd go for anything in the Neff-Siemens-Bosch group. Don't be daunted by the choice -just bite the bullet and get whichever one suits your budget.

Incidentally, I bought mine (Siemens) from Roy Waring South (you can find them on the internet) who does unboxed appliances which are perfect but a total bargain because they don't have their cardboard boxes. They all come with 2 years' guarantee. I saved masses by buying all my appliances from him! And my dishwasher is fab!

We have a NEFF one which must be about 15 years old. It's on its last legs now, but has been a real old faithful over the years.

It neede a new heating element at one point, but otherwise has been very reliable.

we got a bosch logixx one recently and it is very quiet compared to the last one we had. It also has a groovy cutlery tray at the top on the machine rather than a basket which clears some space in the machine itself

Bosch.
And if you live in your kitchen get the quietest one money can buy.

Don't get the bottom of the range Bosch - tinny construction, had engineers out twice within guarantee (once to door panel dropped out of line, once to bottom door seal sheared off - negineer had seen it before, but, oddly, the seal is just cosmetic) and racks forever popping out. It is quiet, though.

Mum's got the next one up and it's much better built.

Go for a Neff.

Helokitty · 21/07/2010 21:41

My Bosh is about 8 years old and we've not had any problems with it yet - it is a sturdy little thing.

frenchfancy · 22/07/2010 19:06

Definately Bosch.

LittleSilver · 22/07/2010 19:51

Thank you guys, that's really helpful. Will prob go for a Bosch as we have a 2nd hand Bosch washing machine that is 8 years old (no idea when it was bought before that) and it's NEVER let us down.

Thanks again.

I have a Miele and it's a thing of beauty!

However if you are looking for cheaper - Comet and Currys now have ebay outlets apparently where they sell them for up to 80% off.

Pluto · 22/07/2010 20:05

I have the cheapest Miele and imo it's better than the Bosch that we used to have.

whomovedmychocolate · 22/07/2010 20:24

I had Bosch dishwashers before we got our Miele - Miele is infinitely better, mine has a third layer at the top for cutlery, three arms, and is so clever it sniffs the dishes to see how dirty they are and then adjusts it's cycle. It is, in fact, smarter than my DH in the kitchen and much cleaner.

Noo go for John Lewis - manufactured by AEG, Vorsprung Durch Technik and all that. 5 year guarantee. Fab.
